James Franco Cast in ‘The Mindy Project’
James Franco has been cast on ''The Mindy Project.''

Hereeeeeeeee’s Johnny!

Fox announced Tuesday that James Franco has been cast on a two-episode arc of The Mindy Project. Franco will star in the second season’s first two episodes as Dr. Paul Leotard, a model-turned-OBGYN who steps in to replace Mindy while she’s in Haiti. From Fox:

Dr. Leotard radically altered his career goals after he accidentally walked off a runway at fashion week and was saved by a pregnant woman. From that day forward, he devoted himself to helping pregnant women and immediately applied to medical school.

The thing is, there’s really nothing to say about Franco at this point. Sure, his real-life persona is irritating, but he is a talented actor. And lest we forget Franco’s turn on 30 Rock as a Japanese pillow-loving version of himself:

So maybe this will be good? Anyway, if someone had told you two years ago that someday soon James Franco and Chloë Sevigny would guest star on the same Fox sitcom, what would you have said?

After Failing to Reach Half His Goal, James Franco Extends His Indiegogo Campaign

A basic premise of crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo is to take back control from the traditional studio system. It’s normal, everyday people who choose what they’re interested in and, therefore, decide what gets made. This is why each project has a time limit, if it doesn’t reach its funding goal within a predetermined amount of time, it doesn’t get made: applying a democratic ideology to the creative process.

No one told James Franco this.

James Franco, who is currently raising money to turn short stories from his book Palo Alto into three separate feature films, just announced he’s extending the deadline on his Indiegogo funding campaign by two weeks. The project was set to expire on Wednesday, but has not yet made even half of its $500,000 goal.

I’ve made my personal thoughts on celebrity crowdfunding explicitly clear. Back in April I wrote, “there is something particularly awful about professionals who have already risen to the near top of their field asking for handouts as if they can’t get work any other way.” It is, however, the mark of a specific kind of egotist to not only request that people less fortunate than you pay for your vanity project, but to then extend the deadline when people fail to pledge enough money in order to make three dumb movies based on three of your dumb short stories.

Perhaps there is a reason why, to date, less than $202,000 has been pledged. And perhaps that has something to do with the fact that the book on which the films will be based received very poor reviews. The Washington Post called it “a thin, hackneyed affair” while the Los Angeles Times quoted Dorothy Parker saying: “This is not a book to be tossed aside lightly, but to be thrown with great force.”

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Franco has pledged to donate all the profits of these films to charity, which makes his campaign less, if only so ever slightly, obnoxious. Perhaps he should just donate the money and move on to something else. Something tells me he’ll land on his feet.

James Franco Will Be Roasted On Comedy Central
Actor James Franco attends the "Spring Breakers" Photocall during the 69th Venice Film Festival at the Palazzo del Casino on September 5, 2012 in Venice, Italy

James Franco might only be the ripe old age of 34, but Comedy Central has decided that he’s a prime contender for celebrity roastee.

Yes, the Oscar nominee/soap opera star/PhD candidate/conceptual artist (shall we go on?) will be the next star to get roasted on national television.

The “Spring Breakers” actor announced the news via an Instagram video on Monday evening.

“Hey, yo. What’s up? I’m gonna get roasted on Comedy Central. Be sure to check it out. They wanted me to tell you that. All right. Ha ha ha…,” he revealed, channeling his typical Franco “enthusiasm.”

Sure, Franco doesn’t have quite the comedy career of legendary roastees of the past like Roseanne Barr and Denis Leary, but we’re sure the roasters (fingers crossed for Seth Rogen and Danny McBride) will think of a few things to bust his chops about.

His epic co-hosting miss at the 83rd Academy Awards? That’s a good start. His stint as “Franco,” the experimental artist/serial killer, on General Hospital? (We actually kind of applaud that performance). THIS, MAYBE?

We kid. We kid. The man deserves props for Freaks and Geeks alone.

Prepare to see James get roasted this coming Labor Day!

Hot Guy Of The Day JAMES FRANCO

James Franco Visits ITV Studios

James Franco looked too cool for school in his leather jacket and shades as he made his way out of the ITV studios. James appeared on ‘This Morning’ in the UK. He was probably talking about his upcoming movie, ‘This Is The End.’ Maybe James spilled some secrets about ‘Good People,’ which he’s currently filming in London with Kate Hudson

Well, for now we’ll have to content ourselves with watching James in ‘This Is The End.’ It’s full of celeb cameos, and all of the celebs are playing themselves. I’m not sure if the movie will be distributed throughout the country, but I’m definitely keeping an eye out for it on Netflix! Are you interested?
