Box Office: "Iron Man 3" Leads "The Great Gatsby" by a Slim Margin After smashing records right and left on its freshman weekend in the box office, "Iron Man 3" looks to pick up where it left off and remains the top choice for movie goers on Friday (May 10). The Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow-starred Disney/Marvel picture grabbed $19.8 million on Friday, and looks to end the weekend with $60 million total. Giving "Iron Man 3" a run for its money is the newly released Leonardo DiCaprio-fronted "The Great Gatsby," which garnered a close $19.4 million on its opening day. Rounding out the top five in Friday earnings estimates were the action film "Pain & Gain," starring Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg ($1.3 million) in third, the new Tyler Perry comedy "Peeples" ($1.2 million) in fourth, and the the Jackie Robinson bio-pic, "42," ($1.1 million) in fifth. Box Office: "Pain & Gain" Looking to Grab Top Spot Movie goers wanted action this weekend, as "Pain & Gain" looks to be muscling its way to the top of the box office for the weekend of April 26-28, 2013. Fronted by Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg, the newcomer grabbed $7 million on Friday and is headed for a $19 million opening weekend. Sliding into second was last week''s number one, the Tom Cruise-fronted action adventure "Oblivion," which garnered $5.3 million on Friday and is gunning for a $17 million three day total. Rounding out the top five in estimated earnings were the Jackie Robinson bio-pic "42" ($10 million) in third, the freshman comedy "The Big Wedding" ($8 million) in fourth, and Dreamworks Animation''s "The Croods" ($6 million) in fifth. "Fast & Furious 6" Featurette Hits the Web: Watch Here! Gearing up for it''s spring release, Universal Pictures released a new featurette for "Fast & Furious 6" on Monday (April 22). The action thriller stars Vin Diesel, as he returns as Dom and helps take down a rival gang in hopes of clearing his criminal record once and for all. Directed by Justin Lin, the film also stars Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Elsa Pataky, Jordana Brewster, and Michelle Rodriguez.
